Self-Determination is a way to take full advantage of your Regional Center funding, so that you can get the specialized care you need.
The Self-Determination Program (SDP) is a program offered by the Department of Developmental Services and all participating Regional Center vendors (like Stable Life Services!). Through this program, guardians of clients with complex or specialized needs, or even the clients themselves depending on the circumstances, receive a financial budget which they can use to register for specialty services. The discretion of what specific type of program is most needed for the client, be it adaptive art services, physical therapy services, or other services not usually offered within the respite umbrella, is left up to the guardian and/or the client themself who, more often than not, know the client’s needs better than anyone.

We have an active self-determination program assisting clients in Santa Cruz county and the surrounding area, offering adaptive art sessions and music lessons.
